A Complete Caribbean Vacation Packing List

Filled with breathtaking views and clear blue water, the Caribbean is the ultimate beach getaway. So whether you’re planning a week of adventuring the islands or just relaxing on the beach, you’ll need to spend some time packing before your trip begins. Let us make that easy with a list that covers everything you need for a week in paradise!

If you’re a minimalist, a benefit of lightweight clothing is you shouldn’t need more than a carry-on! That’s right, all your belongings, plus a few extras, should all fit in a backpack. This will save time spent packing, and waiting for luggage at the airport — which means more time soaking up that sweet Caribbean sun. However, if you want to have a couple options for your day, we got you there too!

Packing for a cruise doesn’t have to be hard. You just need the right travel agent to give you all the best tips!

If you’re worried about what to pack, don’t stress about it! Instead, read on to find lists detailing what you should pack for a stress-free vacation! What To Wear

Keep these tips in mind when packing for your next Caribbean vacation.

Lightweight and Breathable Clothes

We already mentioned that the weather in the Caribbean is always nice and balmy. Naturally, this means heavy clothing is a no-go, so you can leave jeans, sweatshirts, and heavy jackets at home.

You should pack lightweight and breezy t-shirts or tank tops, then pair them with shorts, skirts, and sundresses.

Dress Code

While most islands are laid back and casual, some resorts don’t appreciate guests showing up right off the beach. So make sure you double-check any dress codes beforehand for resorts, bars, or restaurants you’re headed to.

Packing one or two slightly upscale outfits will prepare you for nights out on the town while avoiding any dress code issues. And don’t forget a pair of shoes other than flip-flops!

All resorts have different dress-codes for their lounges, restaurants, and clubs. Be sure to check that dress-code before zipping those luggage bags!
Did you know that rolling your clothing to fit in your luggage saves space and results in less wrinkles?

The Big Lists

This list should cover everything you need, whether you’re spending the day hiking, lying on the beach, or going out at night.

The last thing you want to do on vacation is spend money on things you have at home, so read the list all the way through and use it while packing!

Clothing For a Week In Paradise

  • Tops for each day – like t-shirts, button-ups, and tank tops, just make sure they’re light and breezy
  • Pairs of shorts or a skirt for each day
  • Sundresses or elevated outfits for dinner or a night out
  • Undies and bras…and pack extra (definitely don’t forget this!)
  • Socks
  • A pair of flip-flops or beach/pool shoes, don’t forget the sand gets hot
  • A pair of nicer shoes for going out
  • Sneakers or other closed-toe shoes. This is a must if you’re planning on hiking or adventuring the islands. You can wear them on the plane to take up less room!
  • Swimsuits
  • Coverup
  • A hat
  • Pajamas
  • A lightweight sweater or jacket for the plane and cooler nights
  • Sunglasses
  • Swim Diapers (if applicable)

Toiletries For the Caribbean

While most of the islands are well-stocked and offer amenities should you need to buy something, it will most likely be a bit more pricey than back home. Stowing these things in your carry-on will mean less to buy once you get there.

Don’t forget; travel size is a must! The TSA has specific rules about bringing liquids in your carry-on. When flying, every item must be only 3.4oz or 100ml and fit into a clear plastic container. Nowadays most products come in a travel size so finding the right one shouldn’t be a problem.

Most Caribbean resorts will have small toiletries available for use, already in the bathrooms. Only bring your own if you’re particular about what you use.
  • Deodorant
  • Tweezers (if desired)
  • Baby products (if applicable)
  • Hair Products/Brush (+hair ties!)
  • Sunblock (preferably reef-safe!)
  • SPF chapstick or lip balm
  • Bug spray
  • Anti-itch cream (in case the bugs get you before you spray)
  • Aloe vera or other after-sun care
  • Tums, Pepto Bismol, or other heartburn and stomach ache relief
  • Simple First Aid Kit (various band-aids, gauze pads, antibiotic ointment)
  • Shampoo & conditioner (or use the complimentary bottles in the room)
  • Bath Soap (or use the complimentary bottles in the room)
  • Toothbrush/Toothpaste/Floss
  • Eye Drops/Contacts/Solution
  • Facial Cleanser and Products
  • Tampons/Pads
  • Razor/Shaving Cream
  • Lotion (or use the complimentary bottles in the room)
  • Dirty Clothes Bag
  • Hand sanitizer

Medication

If you or someone in your family takes special medications, be sure to include those in your suitcase.

On top of that, it is always a good idea to bring some over-the-counter medications in case of a mild illness or minor injury, including:

  • Tylenol/Advil
  • Cold/Flu
  • Sinus
  • Allergy
  • Motion Sickness
  • Daily Vitamins
  • Prescription

Tech Accessories

These are things you’ll want to bring for the flight, and the remainder of the vacation.

  • Phone charger
  • Outlet adaptors (make sure you double-check with the resort!)
  • Headphones (great for the plane ride and for laying out on the beach)
  • Bluetooth speaker
  • Portable battery pack for longer days
  • Camera or GoPro
  • Tablet or e-reader (for reading on the beach, a good old-fashioned book is great too)
  • Smart watch and charger
In today’s world, it’s certain that you will be bringing some gadgets with you on this vacation. Double-check that you packed all the correlating chargers as well.

The Basics

  •  Personal identification (driver’s license)
  • Passport
  • Vaccine Cards
  • Credit/debit cards
  • Cash (probably only a small amount for tipping)
  • Insulated water bottle (most tap water is drinkable)
  • Waterproof phone case
  • Airplane tickets
  • Itineraries
  • Reservation confirmations (hard copy)

Other Things to Consider

  • Ear plugs
  • Eye mask
  • If you’re planning any guided tours, excursions, water activities, etc., be sure to see what is suggested to take on those ventures. Don’t wear your new white neaks on that 4-wheeling adventure you scheduled!
  • Extra bag for the pool/beach
  • Travel Wallet – Keeping your personal information and valuables safe while traveling is important. Consider investing in a travel wallet that keeps everything secure and hidden. You’ll still have easy access while helping you stay carefree on vacation.
  • Waterproof Phone Case – You should get these, just in case. They’re usually inexpensive and will protect your phone from all the typical beach elements like sand and water. Plus, you’ll be able to take cool underwater pictures!
  • Diaper bag and gear (if applicable)
A lot of resorts have golf options available. While equipment may be included, you might want to consider if there are any smaller objects that are important to your golf game!
Sandals and Beaches Resorts have some of the best all-inclusive resorts in the Caribbean.
